Saturday 7/24
Fox Post 2 at Durney Post 27:
Game 1: Fox - 8, Durney - 7 (8)
Game 2: Fox - 13, Durney - 3
Fox retains the #1 seed in the State Tournament. Durney had
already locked up the #3 seed by finishing first in the Northern
Division, even though they finished 8th in total points.
Post 10 Newark at Stahl Post 30:
Stahl - 10 Post 10 - 4
Stahl - 6 Post 10 - 2
Stahl clinches the Central Division with a Doubleheader win over cross
state rivals Post 10 Newark. Stahl will play as the #2 Seed in the
State tournament.

Game 2 Sussex West - 11, R.C. DuPont - 3
Post 25 Middletown Firehawks - 18, VFW 3420 - 2 (5): VFW stepped out to an early lead in the bottom
of the first off of Demitrius Morris’ two-run
homer, but Post 25 countered with an offensive barrage.
Julius Ryland hit two home runs and had
six RBI’s on the day. As
Ryland stepped off of home plate after his first home run, he said
“that’s for Terri,” in honor of Terri Schall
(his athletic trainer from Middletown HS who was tragically killed in a car
crash), whose funeral Ryland had just attended prior to the game.
Ryan Haas went 4 for 4 with three
RBI’s, Kyle Husni hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning, and Chad
Kuhl solo homered in the fifth to
cap off the afternoon.

Friday 7/23
DE Post 1 - 10, R.C. DuPont Post 18 - 6: (Brandywine HS - Continued from earlier) DE
Post 1 moved up in the overall standings, and tied Durney Post 27 for
the lead in the Northern Division Friday night - Durney will get the
nod as the #3 Seed in the tournament, however, winning the 2nd tie
breaker, runs allowed in their division, 87 to 99.

Thursday 7/22
VFW 3420 - 9, Post 10 Newark - 8: (Newark HS) VFW got
on the board first with a pair of runs to start the game as Jamie Tremle and
Dylan Oakes scored on a Sam Farley single.
Newark scored in the bottom half as
Kyle Hayman walked, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Taylor Mahoney.
VFW scored again in the top half of the third but Newark scored five in the
bottom to take the lead. Adam Pugh walked, Tyler Husfelt singled, Lincoln
Lamberton walked and was safe on a VFW error to score the first run. Taylor
Mahoney doubled to score two and after Alex Woods was hit by a pitch Pete
Broehl and Tom Wise driving in two more. In the top of the fourth, VFW came
back thanks to a pair of Newark errors.
With bases loaded, Cory Purnell singled
to do most of the damage. The teams traded runs in the fifth and sixth but VFW
prevailed in a game that featured 28 total hits.
Post 25 Middletown - 2, Stahl Post 30 - 1: (Middletown HS) In a defensive battle, both teams scored a
single run in the third inning to tie the score. Brandon Fallers hit an RBI single for Stahl,
and Ryan Haas hit a solo homer for Post 25. In the bottom of the seventh inning
with two outs, Frank Samluk singled for Post 25.
Moving on contact, Samluk rounded the bases
on a Julius Ryland double to deep left field to score and give Post 25 the
hard-fought win.

DE Post 1 - 19, Delvets Post 1 - 6 (5): (Friend's Academy)
For Post 1 Jon Castro went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles scored twice and had
3 RBI’s. Tom Crist was 2 for 3 scored twice and had 2 RBI’s, Al Mersman
was 3 For 4 with a double scored 3x’s and 2 RBI’s.
For Del Vets Jones had a two bagger and Miraglia had a triple.
Sussex West Post 6 Patriots - 3, Sussex East Post 28 Warriors - 2 (8): (Seaford HS) It came down to Tyler Absher's 2 out single in the bottom of the eighth
inning, as the Post 6 Sussex West Patriots defeated The Post 28 Sussex
East Warriors 3-2 in 8 innings Thursday.
Sussex East put up the first 2 runs, scoring one each in the first and
second off starter Nick Cooper (0-4), but with the bases loaded in the
3rd, Zack Reynolds came in and finished the game, Shutting out East for
the final 6 innings.
The Patriots Adam Troyer led off the 8th with a double down the 3rd base
line, and was stuck on 2nd after Paul Elliot struck out and Dylan
Shockley was hit by a pitch. Jake Williams chased a third strike and it
was up to the catcher, Tyler Absher who was batting 0-2 with a sac bunt.
Absher lined the ball into left, scoring Troyer and winning the game.
Garrett Casale and Tyler Dean both doubled for Sussex East, Jesses
Swanson took the loss even with 7 strikeouts in the game. Reynolds won,
throwing 6 strikeouts, shutting out the Warriors for 6 innings.
Fox Post 2 - 6, Post 3 Milford Red Sox - 3: (Reed Field, Dover) Winning pitcher was Bobby Brown, with Brandon Barber pitching the 7 inning
to earn a save. Danny Gatto, Tommy Dill and Stephen Barr each had two
hits to lead Fox Post to the win. Corey Smith had two hits for Post 3.
Durney Post 27 - 21, R.C. Dupont Post 18 15: (Stanton MS) Durney Post had to come from behind twice in the game to get the win. Kyle
Maloney, Airiane Shankaras led Durney with 3 hits each while Ty Hawthorne
and Sam Goins both added triples,
RC's Donnelly had 3 hits for RC. Dan
Tiberi came on in relief to get the win.

Wednesday 7/21
Stahl Post 30 - 7, Fox Post 2 - 6: (Reed Field, Dover)
Stahl scored 3 runs in the top of 7th inning to take a 7 to 6 lead. In
the inning Fox Post committed 3 errors and Stahl had no hits.
Middletown Post 25 - 11, Durney Post 27 - 5: (Silverlake Park, Middletown) Under the lights at Silver Lake Park, Durney jumped out to an early lead in the first
inning. Middletown continued to battle,
and its offense dominated to earn the win. Ryan Haas hit two home runs for Middletown, went 2 for 2 with a walk,
and scored three times. Kyle Husni and
Julius Ryland also homered for Middletown.Joey Birmingham went 3 for 4 on the night for Durney and scored tw0.
Post 10 Newark - 9, VFW 3420 - 4: (Newark HS) Newark
Post 10’s Ryan Vietri allowed four runs on seven hits for the complete
game win. The game was close through the fourth inning as both teams scored a
pair of runs.
In the bottom of the fifth Newark came alive and scored six runs
off VFW starter Dennis Massari and reliever Sertin. Vietri led off with a
single and Mike Medori doubled to drive in the first run. With one out, Taylor
Mahoney doubled, Pete Broehl tripled scoring two followed by a drive to deep
right by Alex Woods that resulted in a VFW error. Woods reached third on the
play. Tom Wise then tripled to end the night for Massari. With two outs, Tyler
Husfelt singled to drive in the final run of the inning.
VFW scored once in the
6th as Dylan Oakes homered with the bases empty. Newark scored again
in the bottom of the sixth as Kyle Hayman and Mahoney both walked and advanced
to third on a passed ball. Pete Broehl hit a sacrifice fly to right field to
drive in the last run.
Post 28 Warriors at R.C. DuPont Post 18: Post 28 Forfeits
Tuesday 7/20
Sussex West Post 6 Patriots 13, Lewes Post 17 - 2: (Cape Henlopen HS) Tonight's
Game was a tale of two Coopers, and Two Troyers, as the Sussex West
Post 6 Patriots rolled over Lewes Post 17 12-3 on the road at Cape
Henlopen HS.
The two Coopers were Nick and Conner - Conner Cooper batted 3 for 4
with 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored, Nick Cooper batted 2 for 4 with 3
RBI's. The Troyers, Adam and Tyler had a good night, Tyler with a 2 run
Home Run as he batted 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's and 3 runs scored, and Adam
batting 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's and 3 runs scored. All told, the Coopers
and Troyers were responsible for 7 runs scored and 11 RBI's.
Lewes did make it interesting, shutting down the Patriots in the top of
the 5th to prolong the game, then scoring 3 runs with two outs on
Connor Cooper in the bottom of the 6th as the Pats committed all 3 of
their errors on the night.
Steve Bull had Post 17's only extra base hit. Chad Sturgeon also
doubled for the Pats, Justin Allen added a triple and scored 3 more
runs on the night. Jake Williams got the win for the Patriots, Ryan
Muchmore took the loss.
Fox Post 2 - 8, Sussex East Post 28 Warriors - 0: (Reed Field)
Newark Post 10 - 11, Delvets - 5: (Newark HS) Taylor Mahoney
scattered five hits over six innings allowing three earned runs and
striking out six. Derek Marshallsea pitched the seventh to close out
the win.
Tyler Husfelt drove in three runs for Newark and scored twice.
In the second, Newark put up three runs capitalizing on a pair of
DelVets walks. In the third, Pete Broehl started the scoring with a
double, Mahoney followed with a single scoring Broehl and after Tom
Wise and Adam Pugh both walked to load the bases, Tyler Husfelt walked
scoring one and Alex Woods sacrificed to score the third run of the
inning.
In the fourth Kyle Hayman singled and Lincoln Lamberton walked. After a
double steal, Pete Broehl sacrificied to drive in a run and Mahoney
sacrificed to drive in the second. Newark scored in each inning taking
advantage of nine DelVets walks
Stahl Post 30 - 18, Durney Post 27 - 4 (5): (Stanton MS) Stahl's Don May went 3-4 and Derek May, B. Fallers T. Fortuna had two hits apiece. Tyler Hawthorne had two hits for Durney
R.C. DuPont Post 18 and Delaware Post 1 are tied 7-7 in the top of the 8th at Brandywine HS
Big day in the divisional standings:
In the North: R.C Dupont Post 19 (5-5, 12-11) plays host to Delaware
Post 1 (5-5, 11-12) (at Brandywine HS) in a game that could help decide
the North, and division leader Durney Post 27 (6-5, 12-11) hosts
Central's Stahl Post 30 (7-2, 16-7) at Stanton Middle School..
The winner of the first game ties Durney for the divisional lead, the
winner of the 2nd could move up in the overall standings - both games
start at 6:00.
Newark Post 10 (1-7, 12-10) will attempt to continue their strong 2nd
half showing as they challenge Delvets (5-6, 11-13) in a game at Newark
HS. A win by Newark and Sussex East, could drop Delvets out of the
tournament.
In the South, the Post 28 Sussex East Warriors (5-5, 10-13) try to keep
their tournament hopes alive as they host Fox Post 2 (8-0, 19-1). Fox
Post 2 will want to rebound from their loss Monday as the Warriors will
try to ruin Fox' perfect divisional record. Game is at Indian River HS
at 6:00 PM.

Monday 7/19
Stahl Post 30 - 4, Fox Post 2 - 0: (Wilson Field) DeLong pitches a 3 hit shutout with 8K's for Stahl, Danny Gatto doubles for Fox.
Durney Post 27 - 8, Delvets - 3: (Stanton MS) Joe Bermingham led Durney offense with two triples and Joe Filliban had
two hits. Dan Tiberi hit a Grand Slam HR in the home half of the
fourth inning. Tyler Hawthorne gave up only 3 hits while striking out
seven to get the win. Game had a one hour rain delay in the bottom of
the 1st inning.
Middletown Post 25 - 11, DE Post 1 - 1 (6): (Silverlake Park) Post
25’s offense maintained the upper hand behind solid pitching
efforts. Elliott Gardner, Ryan Haas, Julius Ryland and Jeff
Yermal all had two RBI’s for Post 25, and Ryland went 3 for 3 with a
walk. Kevin Pepe doubled for Post 1 and scored a run in the 4th
inning.
Schedule change for 7/25 - Middletown vs Durney Post 27: moved to
Silverlake Park in Middletown with a start time of 7:30 PM
Post 28 - 7, R.C. duPont Post 18 - 7: Post 28 Forfeits

Sunday 7/18

Game 1: Durney 5, Post 1 - 4: Post 1: Trotta took the loss.. Tom
Crist went 3 for 4, Kevin Pepe went 2 for 3 with a RBI for Durney Post
27: Pitcher was Miller, Catcher was Goines Miller went the distance for
the win, Goines was 2 for 4 and Maloney went 2 for 4.
Game 2: Post 1 - 5, Durney - 4: Sukowsky wins the night cap for Durney. Biederman, Tunell, and Newell all went 2 for 4 with RBI’s

Joe Bermingham threw a 3 hitter giving up only one earned run and striking
out 7 batters for Durney.Tyler Hawthorne put Durney ahead in the third inning with a two run triple.
Kyle Fields, DJ Miller and Joe Bebbrmingham all had two hits for Durney.

R.C. Dupont Post 18 - 11, Stahl Post 30 - 7: (Wilson Field)
2B - RC Morento; 3B - Stahl Alexander, Derrick May; HR RC Rostick
Sussex East Post 28 Warriors - 10, Sussex West Post 6 Patriots - 9: (Indian River HS) The Post 6 Sussex West Patriots jumped out to an early 5-0 lead
over the Post 28 Sussex East Warriors on Casey Zitvogel's 3 run bases
loaded double in the first, then Tyler Troyer's 2 run Home Run in the
2nd at a makeup game played at Indian River HS Friday.
Post 6's pitcher Chad Sturgeon was in control with 3 hits allowed until
the 5th inning, when a series of fielding mistakes, then back to back
two out doubles by Jesse Long and Pete Ott gave the Warriors 5 runs to
tie the game.
Adam Troyer came in but gave up a series of hits to put the Warriors ahead 10-5, as Post 28 batted around.
But the Patriots were not done. In the top of the 7th Adam Troyer and
Casey Zitvogel hit back to back doubles to get the Patriots within 1
run, but a nifty play by Post 28 Shortstop Jesse Long got the final out
to end the game.
T.J. Jefferson also doubled for the Patriots and Zitvogel batted 2 for
3 with 4 RBI's. Jesse Long batted 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's for the
Warriors. Jesse Swanson pitched a complete game, knotching 8
strikeouts and the win, Chad Sturgeon had 6 strikeouts in his 5 innings, Troyer took the loss.
