Thursday - 7/10 - Game Results:
Newark 13, Post 25 Middletown 6: (St Marks HS) Jim Marshallsea and Austin Bartley combined on a five
hitter for Newark. Newark took advantage of a pair of singles, a walk
and an error to open the scoring in the first inning. In the third
Jordan Oncay walked and Bill Morton homered to left field. Middletown
came back with four runs in the top of the fourth on three singles and
a pair of walks. Newark came back in the bottom half of the fourth
scoring six runs to break open the tie game. Rob Mooney and Stephen
Heim singled and Alex Woods hit a three run homer to highlight the
inning. Tyler Husfelt went three for four to help pace Newark as they
combined for 10 hits.
Delvets 7, Oak Grove Thunder 5: (Friends Acadamy) Kevin
Hopkins picked up the win in relief. Delvets came back from a 3-0
defecit exploding for 6 runs in the 3rd. Jon Bacher led Delvets offense
with a double and 3 RBI's. Sam manelski had 2 hits for Oak Grove.
Post 6 Patriots 16, Post 3 Milford Red Sox 3: (Milford HS) Post 6's Chad Sturgeon pounded out 9 RBIs on 3 for 4 hitting,
including 2 Home runs, while Tyler Ruark only allowed 3 runs on 2 hits as
the Post 6 Patriots rolled over the Post 3 Milford Red Sox at Milford
High School.
Steve Sharff also doubled and homered, adding to a 3 for 3 night,
while driving in 3 runs. Lance Kelly also batted 3 for 4 with an RBI in the
game. Matt Parker and Eric Sharff also doubled in the game.
Adam Darling smacked a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 4th for
all of Milford's runs.
The Red Sox did have men on 1st and 3rd with 2 outs in the bottom of
the fifth, but center fielder Matt Parker made a diving catch to end
the game. The Patriots had 15 hits off Whalen and Ibach in the game.

Tuesday's [7/8] Games
Newark 13, DE Post 1 - 3:
(McKean HS) Newark's bats exploded in the first inning, scoring 5 runs
off Post 1 starter Bryan Jennings. Newark had 18 hits, 4 for Triples
and 2 for Doubles. Newark pitchers Bill Morton and Jordan Oncay
combined for the winning side..
Post 6 Patriots - 1, Post 28 Warriors 0: (Seaford HS) A 50 minute storm (lightning) delay got the game off almost an hour late.
Both
pitchers, Post 28's Josh Lee (4 Strikeouts) and Post 6's Zach Adkins (4
K's) were in control of the other team's bats, before Post 6's Steve
Sharff
scored a run on Matt Parker's bases loaded sac fly. Game was suspended
under the 7
inning completion rule and will be finished July 15th before the
regularly scheduled game at Indian River HS.
Fox Post 2 - 19, Post 3 Milford Red Sox - 0
Delvets 3, Post 25 Middletown Firehawks 0: (Smyrna HS) Mike
Reardon pitched a complete game shutout with 9 K's to improve to (5-0)
on the season. Jack Cardinal had 2 hits for Delvets to lead the
offense. 2 Middletown errors in the 3rd led to Delvets 3 runs.
Although Post 25 outhit Del Vets, the winner in this game was the team that made the
least errors. Del Vets played a perfect defensive game, while Post 25
committed four errors that allowed three runs to score to hand Del Vets the
win. Jay Croft pitched a one-hitter for Post 25, but chalked up a loss
due to three unearned runs. Patrick Hoye came in relief for Post 25, and
allowed only three hits.
At the end of seven innings, it was the strong pitching of Mike Reardon who earned the win for Del Vets, giving up a mere six
hits, and backed up by a strong defensive field that allowed no runs to score.
Stahl Post 30 - 11, Oak Grove Thunder - 6: (Stanton
MS) Stahl Post offense took advantage of Oak Groves defense scoring 5
runs in the fifth to take the lead. Kyle Hitchens led off the inning
with a single followed by an opposit field triple by Brendon Fallers.
Oak Grove committed 3 fielding errors and allowed 5 runs to
score. Oak Grove's Tim Szymanski had 2 hits inclulding a solo
home run in the sixth and a double in the seventh. Stahl Post pitchers
combined for 10 strike outs
R.C.DuPont Post 18 - 14, VFW Post 3420 - 0: (Glasgow HS) Kip SKibicki and Greg Rostick hit 3 run homers. Kip also
had 2 other hits. Will Stratton notched the victory with 4 innings of 2
hit pitching. Nolan Magee pitched a perfect final inning. Kyle Podgajny
had a rbi double and Kyle Anderson and Brian Manalo each collected 2
hits and 2 runs scored for the Aviators.
Monday, July 7th:
Oak Grove Thunder - 12, Delaware Post 1- 2: (Stanton
MS)Post 1 pitchers had trouble with
control, walking too many batters, and hitting several too and Oak
Grove's offense scored in every inning and was led by Sam Manelski who went 3-4
with 3 rbi's and also scoring twice. Rayzel Martinez and Matt Joyce both had rbi
doubles and also scored twice along with Kyle Maloney.
Post #1 Billy Crowe had a rbi triple and scored on a Kevin Flanigan
single in the third for their only runs.Matt Joyce went the distance
giving up 2 runs on 6 hits for his third win.
Oak Grove gets their first Northern Division win.
July 5th
Fox Post 2 - 12, Post 25 Middletown Firehawks - 1: (Smyrna HS) Dover’s Fox Post 2 dominated both sides of the field in this
rain-delayed, one-sided battle at Everett Field in Smyrna. Homers by Jimmy
Brittingham and Ronnie Rossi contributed to Fox Post’s offensive
efforts. Brittingham went 3 for 3 on the day, and also made it to base on two
walks. Fox Post’s defense made some outstanding plays in the field to
shut down Post 25’s dangerous offense.
Jay Croft, Pat Hoye and Andrew
Fortner singled for Post 25, and Hoye’s RBI brought in the only run of
the day for Middletown. Game 2 will be rescheduled to July 21st at 6 PM.
Stahl Post 30 - 2, Post 3 Milford Redsox - 1: (Game 1-Wilson Field) Stahl Post 30 wins a pitcher's duel in almost record time.
Stahl Post 30 - 12, Post 3 Milford Redsox - 2: (Game
2-Wilson Field) Pat Riffel had 7 RBI's on 3 hits including a double and
an inside the park grand slam and Heath Johnson had 2 hits and 3 runs
scores for Stahl in game shortened to 5 innings.
Newark at Post 6 Patriots - Postponed due to unplayable field conditions
