6/26 - Games from ThursdayDelvets 6, R.C. Dupont Post 18 0: Mike Reardon (Sallies) improved to 3-0 this year after posting the complete game shutout. Delvets bats came alive in the second scoring 4 runs and putting the game away. Offensivley Delvets was led by Jake Stout (2 hits), Kevin Hopkins (2 hits, double), Harrison Grube (double), and Curtis Wallace(double).Post 25 Middletown - 6, Stahl Post 30 - 2: Post 25’s strong defense held Stahl’s explosive offense at bay, while chalking up six runs on 10 hits. A superb pitching performance by Jay Croft (P25) held Stahl Post 30 to two hits on the evening. Brett Cracco hit safely twice, walked, landed a base on a fielder’s choice, and scored two runs for Post 25.
Newark Post 10 - 3, Stahl Post 30 - 1: Jordan Oncay pitched a complete game allowing one run on four hits, striking out eight and walking two. Oncay got the Newark scoring started in the first inning with a double and scored on a triple by Andrew Bentley. Andrew Young was safe on an error driving in Bentley. After a strike-out and a walk to Evan Zechman, Kevin O’Connor was safe on an error by the shortstop to close out the Newark scoring. Stahl Post scored in the fifth on a walk to Tyler Fortuna a two-out single by DJ Wood and an RBI single by Heath Johnson. Alex Woods and Bill Morton each had a pair of singles for Newark while Oncay went three for three at the plate and notched his second complete game victory in a row. Post 28 Warriors - 11, Post 3 Milford Red Sox - 1: 6/24 -Games from TuesdayFox Post 2 - 16, Post 3 Milford Red Sox - 4: Fox Post's bats, aided by decent pitching wins out as Fox Post 2 takes the top spot in the South with this win.brStahl Post 30 - 1, Post 1 - 0: Stahl needed only 4 hits to shut out Post 1 in a tight game. Winning pitcher Kyle Hitchens gave up only 2 hits, stuck out 1 and had a hit batter. Losing Pitcher was Brayn Jennings who give up 4 hits and an unearned run while stiking out 6 and walking 2 batters. Both teams had an error each. Delvets - 11, VFW Post 3420 - 1: Mike Godwin held VFW 3420 in check only giving up 4 hits and having 7 strikeouts over the 5 inning game. Godwin also lead the offense with 2 hits including a 3 run homer. Curtis Wallace and Mike Reardon also helped power Delvets with 2 hits a piece. Dennis Massari stroked a Double for VFW 3420. Oak Grove Thunder 8, Newark 7 (9): In a see-saw battle, the Thunder scored 2 runs in the 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 9th innings to finally beat Newark by one run. Newark had scored a run in the top of the 9th to take the lead. Frank Devonshire went 3-3 driving in the winning run in the bottom of ninth with a walk off bases loaded single to left field. Kyle Maloney went 2-4 with 3 RBI including a two run triple. Nick Ciafre came in relief of starter Matt Joyce in the top of the seventh giving up one run on two hits. Matt Joyce had 9 strike outs in 6 2/3 innings. R.C. Dupont Post 18 Aviators - 16, Post 25 Middletown Firehawks 6: R.C. DuPont Aviators bounced the Middletown Firehawks by the score of16 to 6 in a 5 inning game. R.C. pitched B.J. Suiter, Kyle Anderson,Kyle Podgajny, and Andrew Cooper in the game. Hitting stars for R.C. were Kip Skibicki with 4 hits, B.J. Suiter with 2 hits,Greg Rostick with 2 hits and Kyle Anderson with 2 hits and 3 RBI's. In total R.C. collected 16 hits and scored in all 5innings of the game. Post 28 Warriors - 6, Post 6 Patriots - 3: The Post 6 Patriots out hit Post 28, 9 to 5, but 3 errors and 6 walks gave the Warriors more than enough men on base to outscore the Patriots and win the game. The Pats took an early lead after Trent Passwaters singled, and Tyler Ruark doubled, leaving runners on 2nd and 3rd. Zach Adkins slapped a grounder to 3rd base, scoring Passwaters and giving the Pats a 1-0 lead. But in the 4th inning, Josh Lee led off with a single, stole second then took third on a throwing error during the steal. then with 1 out, Mike Casale was hit by a pitch, then took second as the Patriots didn't throw down with a man on 3rd. After a strikeout, leadoff batter C.J. Bell was intentionally walked, loading the bases. Cam Travalini singled in one run, then D.J. Long doubled to right center, scoring 3 more. Post 28 added 2 more runs in the 5th after 3 walks, then a throwing error after a line drive catch at 3rd rolled to the sideline fence. The Patriots bats did finally come alive, scoring 2 runs on 3 straight singles and a double, but a pick off play, and sharp infield play kept the Patriots from scoring. Dustin Richards and Tyler Ruark doubled for the Patriots, D.J. Long for Post 28. Trevor Abbot struck out 7 in 6 innings of work for the win. 6/21 - Saturday's GamesStahl Post 30 - 13, Post 28 Warriors - 1 (6): Zac Fortuna, Kyle Hitchens and Zac Beaton all singled for Stahl, as they scored in every inning to win the six inning game. Merrill Sterner one hit the Warriors who also committed 4 errors in the game.Stahl Post 30 - 15, Post 28 Warriors - 7: Stahl puts up 4 in the 3rd, 5 in the 4th, and 3 each in the fifth and 6th to roll over Post 28 in 7 Innings. The Warriors had scored 2 in the first, and answered Stahl's 5 run 4th with 4 of their own, but Stahl just kept hitting, pounding out 13 hits. Pat Smith had 3 hits for the winners, Brendon Fallers and Brandon Payne added 2 each. For Post 28, Cam Travalini and Tyler Dean had 2 hits each. Austin Bartley had a two-out double in the second helping Newark to score twice in the inning. Alex Woods, Jordan Oncay, Bill Morton and Tyler Husfelt each had a pair of hits to pace Newark Newark Post 10 – 6, Fox Post 2 – 5 (10 innings): Tyler Husfelt led off the bottom of the 10th with a hard grounder to short that led to a throwing error sending him to second. Austin Bartley followed with a single to drive in the winning run for Newark. Earlier, Fox Post 2 had scored three runs in the top of the sixth on hits by Jimmy Brittingham, Joe Diana, Joey Babuca and Will Ross before Bill Morton worked out of a jam in relief of Austin Bartley. Newark came back in the bottom of the sixth scoring three runs of their own on singles by Kevin O’Connor and Austin Bartley and a double by Tyler Husfelt. Bartley and O’Connor paced Newark with three hits each. Jimmy Brittingham and Will Ross both doubled for Fox Post 2 Delvets - 8, Post 1 - 0: Harrison Grube dominated the post 1 batters pitching a complete game shutout with 12 K's. Kevin Czacharowski had 3 hits with 2 RBI'S and Harrison Grube had 2 hits to lead Delvets to a dominating effort over Post 1. Post 1 - 11, Delvets 7: Post 1 and Delvets split a pair. as Alex Riley had 4 hits. Post 3 Milford Red Sox - 21, Post 25 Middletown Firehawks - 4 (5): Milford’s high-powered offense overpowered Post 25 with key hits by Matt
Faulkner, Jordan Elliott and Matt Millman, who was able to get on base each at
bat. The Sox scored 2 in the first, 4 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd and 13 runs in the 4th. |
